Universal has officially announced that Pitch Perfect 3 will be released on July 21, 2017(US). The press release also specifically mentions that stars Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson will return to headline the film’s cast, though there’s still no indication of what the film’s plot will entail or who will direct the film. Further confirming her involvement in the film, Kendrick herself took to Instagram to share the playful image we posted earlier.
Given the massive success of the sequel, Universal didn’t have to wait for three years to release the third installment. Though there are doubts of Kendrick and Wilson’s return since they have graduated as Barden Bellas on Pitch Perfect 2, the announcement came as a surprise but also a treat for the franchise’s fans.
Kay Cannon will return to write the third installment while no updates yet if other cast will return. Elizabeth Banks who directed the second one may return to produce and co-star as Gail Abernathy-McKadden, the commentator for the International Championship of Collegiate Acapella.
PITCH PERFECT 2 is still playing in cinemas nationwide. We can expect Pitch Perfect 3 to arrive July 2017.
