MOVIE REVIEW: The Martian (2015)

THE MARTIAN

THE MARTIAN (2015) Review
Directed by Ridley Scott

“I’m gonna have to science the sh*t out of this.”

An engaging, suspenseful and beautifully shot space adventure. Ridley Scott is back in his turf with a bang. The Martian is surprisingly more fun than what you would expect, it feels as though you’re watching a character in a detailed way like in a book. Matt Damon effortlessly portrays the last astronaut/botanist on Mars. His character brings the Red Planet to life with his intelligence, wit and can-do attitude and handle stress and obstacles calmly which feels fresh to see.

Mind you, it is a space movie. A place where nothing can hear you scream and Ridley Scott balances its thrilling scenes with beautifully shot quiet scenes which allows the audience to absorb the divine view and really feel the out-of-this-planet vibe. There’s just too many reasons to like or even love the film as it is both entertaining and absorbing, cleverly written and visually breathtaking. Truly a remarkable work from Ridley Scott and Matt Damon.
