STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS (2015) Review
Directed by J.J. Abrams

Turns out, Return of the Jedi wasn’t the end of the dark side of the saga that George Lucas created. From ‘The Sith Lord’ to ‘The Empreor’ and now, ‘The Supreme Leader,’ our heroes continue their adventures resisting the dark forces to attain freedom and have the balance in the force.

The Force Awakens, nostalgia aside, is a worthy installment of the epic saga. It is superior to the prequel trilogy and boasts visually stunning sequences and a production that looks authentic. It makes the world of Star Wars come to life, experiencing it in a genuine and indulging way. Director J J Abrams seems to have a way in revitalizing beloved franchise. The film is just packed with larger-than-life space battles and interesting characters that absorbs you every minute.

Daisy Ridley and John Boyega, both new in the franchise registers on screen a bit unripe but their energy seems to cover it up perfectly playing their characters’ recklessness. Oscar Isaac is and Adam Driver on the other hand are both great in their parts. Isaac has the potential to be the next superstar with his looks and acting skills, Driver, though looks beautiful unmasked as Kylo Ren and reveals his face and hair, still offers chilling performance as the newest baddie in the Star Wars universe. Of course, the veterans and even the droids continues to be characters to look out for.

Originality-wise, The Force Awakens borrows the pattern of the original Star Wars trilogy but even though it’s not as inventive as its predecessors, the film still boasts enough thrills and surprises satisfying the audience whether a fan of the franchise or not. It is with great pleasure viewing such epic film that offers entertainment, no more, no less. The people behind the film obviously has the purest concern and love for the franchise that it gives another life to beloved characters and story to live on for another round of epicness.
