STAR CINEMA brings together three of the country’s finest dramatic actors Dingdong Dantes, Paulo Avelino and Angelica Panganiban in though-provoking family drama titled The Unmarried Wife.
Directed by the award-winning Maryo J. Delos Reyes and with a script written by equally acclaimed Vanessa Valdez, The Unmarried Wife is a mature love story that offers a different insight on relationships.
The main narrative is centered on Anne (Panganiban) – a young woman who carries severe inhibitions on love due to a traumatic childhood experience. Her reservations on falling in love are wiped away after finding her great love in the person of Geoff (Dantes). However, blissful relationship with her husband is short-lived because of Geoff’s infidelities. As she struggles to fight for her family, her friend Bryan (Avelino) offers to heal her emotional wounds with the promise of being the lover she truly deserves.
It should be noted that The Unmarried Wife marks the much awaited reunion of Angelica with Maryo J Delos Reyes and Vanessa Valdez since they collaborated in the 2007 blockbuster romantic drama A Love Story with Aga Mulach and Ms. Maricel Soriano.
Angelica, who is widely known and espected as one of the finest in the industry is acclaimed for her versatility as an actress as she possesses the innate ability to smoothly and effectively transition from one genre to another; from heavy drama to romance comedy. Angelica can seamlessly deliver powerful and bold performances that represent a myriad of female images that evokes empowerment to women from all walks of life. Moviegoers will once again witness the bravura of Angelica’s immense talent as an actress as she breathes into the character of Anne – a scorned woman who is deeply conflicted between two of her greatest loves.
Dingdong Dantes on the other hand, returns to Star Cinema for the fourth time via The Unmarried Wife. His very first starrer under Star Cinema was the 2011 horror flick Segunda Mano, where he was also paired opposite Angelica and Kris Aquino. The Unmarried Wife is his reunion project with Angelica after the 2012 smash hit One More Try. Dingdong was able to solidify his mettle as a dramatic actor as seen om the various awards that he received after starring in the movies that he did for Star Cinema.
The Unmarried Wife also marks the debut film performance of Paulo Aveino for a drama under Star Cinema who recently wowed Filipinos around the world with his impressive performance on Star Creative’s I-Emmy nominated primetime series Bridges of Love.
The Unmarried Wife is also the much-awaited comeback picture of Maryo J. delos Reyes under Star Cinema since he directed the romantic drama I’ll Be There back in 2010. This is also the second collaboration between Direk Maryo and screenwriter Vanessa Valdez since A Love Story almost a decade ago.
With the amazing talents of Dingdong, Paulo and Angelica coupled with the inimitable storytelling of Direk Maryo and Vanessa, The Unmarried Wife is sure to deliver an emotionally charged cinematic experience.
