“Darkroom” Review: Conventional but Decent Filipino Found Footage Film

Directed by Pedring Lopez

Inspired by The Blair Witch Project, director Pedring Lopez’ latest horror film Darkroom has what it takes to be compared to the original found footage horror film, but we’re already decades behind making a film with this genre.

It is your typical pattern for a found footage horror film where a group of people went on a trip filming themselves and then something went wrong. And going on a trip to find answers about a haunted house, there isn’t much there to surprise you. But then again, everything was done decently, from handling the cameras to characters that are about to annoy you when things are going bad.

The film will still surprise you with its kills and how it start its scares is actually horrifying. Seeing a dead possessed priest is really creepy and could be the content of your next nightmare. The flow of the story can be easily digested by the audience as it will just slowly but surely immerse you in its successive scares and kills.
