“Kristo” Director Howard Yambao Goes to San Francisco, Tokyo for Int’l Film Festivals

“Kristo (Sinag Maynila 2017 official entry) director Howard F. Yambao is off to two international film festivals for his Sinag Maynila entry this year.

Firstly, he’s now in San Francisco, California for the the 24th FACINE (Filipino Artsand Cinema) International Film Festival which Kristo will be in competition with eight (8) other Filipino films.

Screening schedule of Kristo is on October 21 at 1:30PM at the Roxie Theater – 3117 –
16th Street, San Francisco. Awards night will be on October 22.

After the FACINE Film Festival, director HF Yambao will be going to Japan for the Tokyo International Film Festival where Kristo is an official selection under the Special Section Crosscut Asia. Mike de Leon’s Kakabakaba Ka Ba? will also be part of the special section.

Filipino Arts & Cinema International (FACINE) is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering emerging artists and diverse audiences to create films that speak about Filipino communities globally, by promoting cinema as a social document of Filipino culture and heritage, and as medium of artistic expression. It will be held from October 20 – 22 at Roxie Theater, San Francisco, California, USA.

The Tokyo International Film Festival (東京国際映画祭 Tōkyōkokusaieigasai) (TIFF) is a film festival established in 1985. The event was held biennially from 1985 to 1991 and annually thereafter. Along with the Shanghai International Film Festival, it is one of Asia’s competitive film festivals, and the only Japanese festival accredited by the FIAPF.
