‘Ralph Breaks the Internet’ Review: Will Surprise You Emotionally

RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET (2018) Review
Directed by Phil Johnston, Rich Moore

It’s rare for a sequel to actually be better than its predecessor, but with Ralph Breaks the Internet, Disney seems to be taking things seriously – seriously fun and seriously relatable. That’s me, I guess, but the sequel of 2012 hit animated film surprised me emotionally.

You see, Wreck-It Ralph also surprised me, but in a I-never-expected-I-will-like-it-that-much level. Because the film was well-written and well-told and even if I had no idea of what the game Wreck-It Ralph was, I was entertained by the world the film built. And expanding it with the sequel, I was not as thrilled as reading a ‘Frozen’ sequel, or a new Marvel film.

Ralph Breaks the Internet, like its predecessor, is rich in world building, in humor, in story. It’s entertaining and at the same time, has issues that are more relatable to the viewing audience. What made this film the best animated movie of 2018 so far is that its emotional punch is a surprise. The first 20 or so minutes, I thought everything was generic, but the moment the film gets to its turning point, you’ll just enjoy the ride  and be moved by the friendship of Ralph and Vanellope.
