THE GIRL IN THE ORANGE DRESS (2018) Review

Some of us see artists as people who can and should always take criticisms about their identity and their work, but in reality, their also people who has feelings. This is The Girl in the Orange Dress’ milieu, we get to be in the world of showbiz, the crazy, colorful and fairy tale-like world of showbizness.
In the film, heartthrob and superstar Rye del Rosario (Jericho Rosales) is every woman’s ideal partner, he’s handsome, talented and with a good heart. But one unexpected night, he meets Anna Villegas, drunk, and spent the whole night together. But Anna, waking up in the morning right next to Rye, doesn’t remember anything. The two need to find a way out as the media and fans flock the hotel they stayed. But being stuck made the two bond and get to know more about each other.
The Girl in the Orange Dress feels like a modern fairy tale of finding true love in the “you-and-me-against-the-world” scenario. That person you can’t reach suddenly becomes the only person you can depend on or that unimaginable chance of being with someone you only admire, aspire and idolize from afar.
The film has its loop holes, has its flaws but I can’t deny how lovely it all was. There is magic in it that made the viewing experience worthwhile. And I guess for most audience, that’s what they want their movie experience to be. Movie ticket price today is not a joke and we all want to have a good time in the cinema, and The Girl in the Orange Dress delivered that “good time.”
