Not your typical romance movie, ‘Death of a Girlfriend’ stars AJ Raval and Diego Loyzaga praise writer and director Yam Laranas’ latest work upon reading the script for the first time.
“Sobrang ganda!” the lead stars share the same reaction. But what are their thoughts after reading the script for the first time?
“Ako po ‘nung una, hesitant po ako na tanggapin ‘yung project dahil nga po dun sa “sexy.” Pero pagka-nabasa niyo po ‘yung script mismo, sobrang ganda ng story so grinab ko na po agad. Ayun po, sobrang ganda po ng story,” says AJ Raval .
“Same sa akin. The moment I read the script, it was written by director Yam, I fell in love with it kaagad. I imagined sa isip ko and I saw how the scenes are laying out in front of me as if I was there already, as if we were shooting already, or as if I was seeing other people portraying characters. Ang sabi ko, ’ang ganda! sobrang ganda!’ I kept telling them, ‘yung mga tao dito, I kept saying ‘sobrang ganda nito!’ kasi ‘yung mga kasama ko dito mahilig nila basahin ‘yung mga script na dumadating sa akin. So they got to read it all and nagustuhan din nila. Lalo na everything about it, it’s my first time. It’s gonna be a challenge pero sabi ko, ‘ang ganda, ang ganda talaga.’ I have a thing na I don’t like watching mga gawa kong projects, parang it throws me off, pero ito definitely, paulit ulit papanoorin ko ‘to,” Diego Loyzaga excitedly shares.
With the film being released through digital streaming sites, the fear or the conscious effort of being rated by the MTRCB is gone. Which means more freedom for the filmmaker to do what it intends to do with his film. And with this type of film, lines must be crossed for a more honest storytelling.

When Christine (AJ Raval) did not show up to her usual walk to school, her boyfriend Alonzo (Diego Loyzaga) becomes worried and realizes that something is not right. He sees two suspicious people running out of the woods, and Alonzo immediately reports them to the police.
The two prime suspects – a forest ranger, and a drug-dealing farmer, are interrogated by the police for the rape and murder of Christine. They will tell their side of the story up to the events that lead to the discovery of Christine’s body in the woods. The police will also interrogate Alonzo about his relationship with Christine, and how the two suspects always get in their way.
One of them is lying, one of them is covering the truth, and one of them is making up stories. And the only one who can tell the truth and what really happened on that day in the woods is Christine. She will tell the truth through forensic investigations. She will tell the real story.
