MTRCB grants clearance to eight additional films for public exhibition

TWO local films, “Minamahal: 100 Bulaklak Para Kay Luna,” and “The Ride,” take the spotlight this week, both receiving clearance from the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) for public exhibition.

“Minamahal:100 Bulaklak Para Kay Luna,” starring rising stars Andres Muhlach and Ashtine Olviga, and directed by Jason Paul Laxamana, has been rated PG.

The film contains themes of teenage relationships and complex family dynamics that require parental guidance for viewers under 13 years old.

Meanwhile, the action-packed “The Ride,” featuring Piolo Pascual and Kyle Echarri, received an R-13 rating for viewers aged 13 years old and above.

The film follows the gripping story of a father and son on the run.

The MTRCB also approved six more foreign films, led by the musical fantasy, “Gabby’s Dollhouse The Movie” which is rated G, suitable for all ages.

South Korean concert films, “Cha Eun-Woo: Memories In Cinemas,” starring Korean actor and singer Cha Eun-Woo and “BTS Week,” which features a collection of performances by the Korean boy band BTS, were both rated PG.

The American post-apocalyptic action film, “Afterburn,” set a decade after the Earth’s technology was decimated by a solar flare, received an R-13 rating.

For viewers looking for more intense stories, the Japanese animated “Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc” and the American epic action-thriller, “One Battle After Another,” were both rated R-16, making them suitable only for 16 and above viewers due to mature themes and strong language and content.

MTRCB Chairperson and CEO Lala Sotto reminded parents and supervising adults to be mindful of age-appropriate viewing.

“We advise parents and supervising adults to guide younger viewers in understanding that the scenes and behaviors they see in movies are just part of fantasy and not reality,” said Sotto.
