The Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) is calling on creative Filipinos to pick up their phones and start filming. Following the success of its initial digital outreach, the Federation has officially launched the TikTok Video Competition – Part II, a modern initiative designed to celebrate a decades-old legacy of Philippine education.
A Classroom for Every Dream
With the theme “A Classroom For Every Dream,” the competition aims to showcase how the FFCCCII Barrio Schools have improved lives—not just for the students who received educational support, but also for those whose lives have been touched by this advocacy.
The competition centers on the FFCCCII’s flagship civic project, “Operation Barrio Schools.” Since its inception in 1961, this project has successfully donated and constructed over 6,500 rural public school buildings across the Philippines, serving as a cornerstone of the Filipino Chinese community’s commitment to national development.
“Operation Barrio Schools is a testament to the enduring philanthropy tradition of the Filipino Chinese community,” said FFCCCII President Victor Lim. “Through this TikTok competition, we hope to engage the younger generation, raise awareness about this project, and showcase how these buildings have become symbols of hope and progress in rural communities.”
Bridging History with Digital Creativity
As a leading business federation comprising over 170 chambers of commerce nationwide, the FFCCCII is using this contest to bridge its rich history with the dynamic storytelling of today’s content creators.
Participants are invited to create original short-form videos (1 to 2 minutes) that capture the spirit and impact of the school-building program. Whether it’s a heart-wrenching testimonial, a creative visual tour, or an inspiring montage of students achieving their goals, the goal is to show how these classrooms have improved lives—not just for the students, but for the entire community.
The first edition received, given the very short span after it was announced, more than 300 entries. “For the 300 entries, it took us a lot of time kasi magaganda lahat. Makikita mo how creative the Filipinos are and the participants came from Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao and abroad,” Mr. Peter Mangasing, FFCCCII Chairman for Youth Integrated Committee shares.
