Ahtisa Manalo excited for her showbiz career, picks Alden Richards as her dream leading man

A year after winning the Miss Universe – Philippines crown and representing the country at the Miss Universe stage and winning third runner-up, Ahtisa Manalo is now ready to explore the show business as she signs with Sparkle GMA Artist Center.

During the contract signing, Ahtisa graced the media for a short Q&A:

What genre would you like to explore and role to play?

“I’ve always been fascinated of action movies and hopefully, that’s something I can explore. You know, I hoped to be a Charlie’s Angel when I was a kid. So, if I were given an opportunity, I’d love that. You know, it’s time for adventure. It’s time to see what I can do and not.”

Excelling in the pageant stage, can Ahtisa bring the same success to the showbiz stage?

“Hopefully. I know that I’m gonna carry the same values I had when I was competing internationally, so I’ll bring the hard work and dedication and hopefully, that’s enough recipe for success in showbiz.”

What is the most important lesson you have learned in joining Ms. Universe?

“I have learned a lot of lessons, but I think the most important lesson is that you can pour everything into something and that doesn’t automatically lead to success or winning. So, just having the attitude of working hard, it doesn’t matter if it’s not results-based, but just making sure you’re pouring it into something that you want to do.”

How prepared is Ahtisa entering the showbiz industry?

“Zero preparations. Pumasok ako, I’ve never been to an acting workshop, I don’t know what I’m getting myself into, but it’s honestly a surprise that I’m excited to see.”

Who is Ahtisa’s dream leading man?

“I used to watch Eat Bulaga, and my crush before, there was a segment there, is Alden Richards. So, my dream leading man is Alden Richards. He has a maamo face, a face that looks like he’s very kind.”

As an advocate of women’s empowerment, what’s Ahtisa’s take on the current issues that objectifies women today?

“I think it’s a deeply concerning issue that up until now, women are treated as objects. It’s pervasive in our society, sadly, and even with the recent news happening. Hopefully, it all starts with the perfect way of calling it out, making sure it doesn’t pass. ‘Yung hindi mo siya papabayaan na mangyari lang, kasi kapag pinabayaan mo, you’re also part of the problem. So, calling it out is a great way to do it. To let people know not to do that.”

Ahtisa and Sparkle have yet to disclose her upcoming projects, but we’re looking forward to seeing more of Ahtisa on TV and maybe, on the big screen.

Congratulations, Ahtisa!
