ZOOLANDER 2 (2016) Review
Directed by Ben Stiller
15 years after the successful debut of Derek Zoolander on the big screen as an icon in the fashion business, Ben Stiller who stars and directs the film returns for another adventure of the celebrated fashion model.
The film mostly offers unnecessary cameos, that and a bunch of incoherent and awkwardly written scenarios that tend to be the film’s comedy but all of it ends up as a joke. The film feels empty, the story revolves around the jokes while it should be the other way around. It may have these established comedy actors, Zoolander 2 only tries to make them look horrible and no, Justin Bieber’s cameo isn’t helping the film in any way.
You feel like there’s nothing in the film that would actually make sense but for their part, that’s what they’re doing. Nothing in the film makes sense but they continue with a story that looks like a bunch of ideas being thrown while they are shooting. You want to admire their craft but the film boasts nothing but cameos.
You kinda have to laugh more than once for a film to be an effective comedy movie. While Zoolander 2 really tries, it’s hilariously stupid ending takes too long for an audience to hold on to his or her patience. It literally puts more effort in bringing stars for cameos than building a decent story for the audience to absorb better. The cameos only make things worse because they are mostly unnecessary.
This might be the worst Ben Stiller movie but we’ll always have Meet The Parents and Tropic Thunder.
