“xXx: Return of Xander Cage” Review: A Vin Diesel Movie Through and Through

xXx: RETURN OF XANDER CAGE (2017) Review
Directed by DJ Caruso

High adrenaline action sequences from start to finish, xXx: Return of Xander Cage isn’t pretending to be something it’s not and it just fully embraces its crazy action sequences it can provide the audiences. Though it doesn’t completely satisfy your soul with its story, it can still excite you with its thrilling sequences.

Starring non other than Vin Diesel, which works only emphasizes his capabilities in death defying stunts, the film is his film through and through. Highly entertaining, non-stop action from start to finish. But if you’re into something that offers more than a roller coaster ride of punching, kicking, explosions and intense adventure, xXx: Return of Xander Cage falls flat on that.

Since the film isn’t actually a personal story of a spy agent like 007’s Skyfall or some of the Mission: Impossible films, it does not pretend to be or try to be dramatic or complex, it’s to entertain. It’s formulaic, it’s reckless like its characters, and it’s a familiar story, those may not be the most ideal definition you would want before watching a film, but the intention here is clear and the result is watchable.

The film not just stars Diesel, but also has in its cast Donnie Yen and Tony Jaa, just two of Asia’s greatest action stars today and it is a treat for action film fans to see the three together in one film. You’ll just sit and enjoy whatever mad stunts the film presents. Even the women involved in the film are quite fun to watch.
