VP Leni Grateful for Support for Istorya ng Pag-asa Film Fest, More Pinoy Filmmakers Join 2019 Run

Vice President Leni Robredo is elated over the growing support for her office’s Istorya ng Pag-asa Film Festival (INPFF), as it has received more entries from Filipino filmmakers for its second run this year.

As it closed its call for entries this week, the 2019 INPFF received 98 entries from Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao, and even overseas. This is higher than the number of entries during the short film competition’s initial launch in 2018.

For VP Leni, this affirms that more talented people are sharing her faith in the power of telling true inspiring stories of ordinary Filipinos.

“On behalf of my staff and the INP team, lubos akong nagpapasalamat sa suporta at mainit na pagtanggap na nakuha ng INPFF 2019—from our partners, whose generosity made this initiative possible; from the media, the schools and other organizations that helped us spread the news; and most of all, to the filmmakers who heeded our call to tell true stories of inspiration, and their subjects, for willingly sharing theirs,” VP Leni said.

“Excited na akong mapanood—at maibahagi sa ating mga kababayan—ang mga entries natin ngayong taon,” she added.

Entries submitted will undergo an initial screening, to determine which of them will make the finals. The finalists will make their big-screen debut at the gala night and awarding ceremony on June 8, 2019, where the winners will be announced—as selected by an esteemed panel of judges from the film and entertainment industry.

Bigger prizes are up for grabs in INPFF’s second run, including a cash prize of P80,000 for Best Film, and P50,000 and P30,000 for the first and second runners-up. Special prizes, including Best Script, Best Director, Best Cinematography, and a People’s Choice Award will also be given away.

INPFF 2019 is an initiative of the Office of Vice President Leni Robredo, in partnership with Ayala Foundation and the Film Development Council of the Philippines.
