‘The Roundup’ Review: Solid, tension-filled action comedy

THE ROUNDUP (2022) Review
Directed by Lee Sang-yong

When Don Lee and Son Sukku meet, it’s like two gods collide. The Roundup is a solid, tension-filled action comedy that goes beyond the usual in terms of visual. The hand to hand combats are impressive but what made me really be on the edge of my seat is how the film shows the fight scenes unapologetically.

It’s uncomfortable at times but its rawness, especially in the fight scenes makes the film more like an experience. The story already is interesting, the texture of the film really makes you feel immersed on how the surroundings are: dirty and dangerous.

The Roundup goes beyond entertaining. While we’re having a pool of superhero movies, the film gets to the roots of action movies: hand to hand combats. There are plenty of thrills action fans are going to enjoy, and there are plenty of comedy and twists for everyone else.

3.5 OUT OF 5 STARS
