THE Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) supports the theatrical relaunch of two Filipino film classics—“Magic Temple” and “Hiling”— by providing both films with age-appropriate ratings in line with its commitment to responsible viewing.

Digitally restored and remastered through ABS-CBN’s Sagip Pelikula and distributed by ABS-CBN Film Productions Inc. (Star Cinema), both films have been rated PG (Parental Guidance), making them ideal for family viewing with parental supervision recommended for children below 13 years old.
First released in 1996, “Magic Temple” is a family fantasy adventure directed by Peque Gallaga and Lore Reyes, with themes of friendship, bravery and magical journeys.
Meanwhile, “Hiling” (1998), directed by Jose Javier Reyes, featuring the young pinoy artists Camille Prats, Shaina Magdayao and Serena Dalrymple, is a story about a girl whose wishes come true. It teaches valuable lessons about empathy, selflessness and the unintended consequences of desire.
The Board’s age-appropriate classification for these films is part of the Agency’s ongoing effort to preserve and promote the country’s rich cinematic heritage.
MTRCB Chairperson and CEO Lala Sotto-Antonio expressed full support for both films.
“These restored films are not only nostalgic treasures but also cultural landmarks that continue to resonate with today’s viewers,” said Sotto-Antonio. “The MTRCB is honored to support this initiative that promotes responsible viewing while celebrating the richness of Filipino storytelling.”
The Board continues to collaborate with film producers, distributors and restoration programs to ensure that Filipino classic works are accessible to new generations while safeguarding and uplifting Philippine cinema.
