‘My Secret Self’ Review: Identity swap fantasy fulfilled

Do you ever have the fantasy of swapping your identity with someone richer, more attractive, let’s just say, better in every way? Beetzee Play’s drama series ‘My Secret Self’ offers the audience a glimpse of that.

It’s in a way, like a fairy tale story. Getting the chance to live a life that isn’t yours – a grand, luxurious life. But it comes with the family drama that can take a toll on you.

Sexy, mystery, drama, romance, and a little bit of comedy – the vertical drama series ‘My Secret Self’ has it all. It’s actually perfect for those who are into family conflicts, revenge thrillers, and unfolding dark secrets.

This is the first project of Sarah Holmes I’ve seen, and I can say she fits the role perfectly. She’s sexy and she can do drama and comedy. She can play both Jessy, the tacky prostitute, and Jenny, the sophisticated heiress.

Kit Thompson is reliable as always as the leading man. There’s excitement when he enters the story; Kit’s presence assures the audience that there’s more to anticipate in the story. His charms and acting skills helped him in playing Jake as the knight in shining armour turned confused boyfriend.

The cliffhangers were put where they should be. Having a runtime of 3-4 minutes per episode gives the story enough time to build the drama and suspense, the way its genre is consumed by the audience.

‘My Secret Self’ is never short on drama or tension; it continues to surprise as the story progresses. Not all series or movies fit the vertical aspect ratio, but ‘My Secret Self’ is framed as it needs to be, no more, no less.

Surprisingly, even though it is viewed through a browser, everything was smooth. Beetzee Play’s user interface is as simple as it gets.

You can watch ‘My Secret Self’ via Beetzee Play at beetzeeplay.com, the first Piso Serye platform in the Philippines. You can also find Beetzee Play on GCash, Maya and soon on PalawanPlay.
