Empoy Marquez redefines heroism in family action comedy movie ‘Batang Paco’

THE countdown begins.

This February, “Batang Paco” steps into the spotlight with a bold promise: a Pinoy movie that hits hard, feels real, and reminds audiences why stories about love still matter.

Starring Empoy Marquez, the upcoming family comedy is rapidly making waves as one of the most talked-about local releases in the first quarter of 2026.

Produced by MiVida Productions, Inc., “Batang Paco” is the company’s maiden offering — and its statement piece.

The movie introduces a new production outfit unafraid to mix genres, emotions, and energy, all anchored on one powerful idea: love can turn the most ordinary person into someone extraordinary.

At the center of the story is Paco — a timid tattoo artist who never imagined himself as brave, until circumstances leave him no choice.

When his child is taken, Paco is pushed into a dangerous world far bigger than him.

What follows isn’t just a thrilling ride, but a deeply Filipino story about fear, faith, and the lengths a parent will go for a child.

Empoy delivers a powerhouse performance that blends humor, heart, and vulnerability, marking one of his most grounded and relatable roles to date.

His portrayal of Paco isn’t polished, fearless, or invincible — he presented him as human.

And that’s where the power lies.

“Hindi kailangang maging perpekto para maging bayani,” Empoy shares. “Kapag pagmamahal na ang nagtutulak sa’yo, may lakas kang hindi mo inaasahan.”

Set against the backdrop of Metro Manila — raw, colorful, chaotic —“Batang Paco” balances laugh-out-loud scenes with exciting thrills and quiet emotional beats.

The film is backed by a dynamic ensemble cast that adds texture and intensity to Paco’s journey.

Leading the pack are Ai Ai Delas Alas, Mon Confiado, Ynez Veneracion, Chichi Rita, and Cassy Lavarias with special performances by Richard Quan, Alma Concepcion, Lara Morena, Natasha Ledesma, Kookoo Gonzales, Gerard Acao, Josh Ivan Morales, Kim Rodriguez, Jovi Vargas, and Quentin Molo.

Helmed by director Rechie del Carmen and written by Gina Marissa Tagasa, the film reflects MiVida Productions’ creative vision — storytelling that’s bold, emotionally grounded, and built for today’s audiences.

For producer Ana Abiera Del Moral, a former actress turned entrepreneur, “Batang Paco” represents more than a first project — it defines the company’s voice.

“This film is personal, fearless, and full of heart,” Ana says. “It’s the kind of story we want MiVida to be known for.”

As “Batang Paco” gears up for its nationwide theatrical release, it positions itself as more than just entertainment — it’s a reminder that heroism doesn’t always wear a cape.

Sometimes, it looks like a parent who simply refuses to give up.

“Batang Paco” opens in mainstream cinemas nationwide starting February 18.
