Embracing her iconic soap opera villain legacy, Gladys Reyes has officially released the music video for her debut single, “Primera Kontrabida.” The Star Magic talent brings full teleserye drama to the screen, complete with special cameos from her Mara Clara co-stars, including long-time screen rival Judy Ann Santos.
Designed to evoke deep nostalgia for classic Philippine television, the music video also features appearances by her husband Christopher Roxas, Susan Africa, Juan Rodrigo, Wowie de Guzman, and the Universal Motion Dancers.
“I want it to be nostalgic, iconic. It has a teleserye touch,” Reyes shared. “Aside from that, I wanted my former teleserye co-stars to participate.”
Transitioning from screen antagonist to modern ‘kontradiva,’ Reyes expressed gratitude for the opportunity to showcase her vocal talents—a passion refined over years of performing in live shows locally and internationally.
“In my many years in the industry, I’ve never been given the chance to have my own song,” she added. “It’s a dream come true and an answered prayer to get a song that fits me so perfectly.”
Composed by ABS-CBN Music head Jonathan Manalo and co-produced with StarPop label head Roque “Rox” Santos, “Primera Kontrabida” marks the first release from Reyes’ upcoming six-track EP under StarPop.
