Beginning June 3, the digitally restored and remastered version of Muro-Ami, the 1999 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Best Picture, will be screened in select SM Cinemas, introducing the acclaimed film to a new generation of moviegoers.
Reviews are out and critics have praised Fennell’s adaptation. Vogue US headlined their review by describing the film as an “indulgent delight,” with the author saying that the film “feels seared into my brain – the eye-popping excess, the unbridled, tongue-in-cheek nastiness, the sheer scale and imagination of it all. See it on the biggest screen possible with as many friends as possible, and get ready to argue for hours afterward.”
Lino Brocka’s ‘JAGUAR,’ digitally restored 4K version is part of the seventh edition of the SINAG MAYNILA INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL.
Ayala Malls Cinemas’ annual Thrill Fest is now in its second week, and on its frightening lineup from August 28 to September 3 are two more Hollywood classics celebrating milestone anniversaries this year. The aforementioned “A Nightmare on Elm Street,” directed by horror-slasher favorite Wes Craven, is celebrating its 40th anniversary. Joining “Nightmare” is a classic disaster-thriller from 1974, Academy Award winner “The Towering Inferno,” which is turning 50 this year. Moviegoers are in for a treat as they can watch remastered versions of these classics on the big screen for only P200 – P250. The Thrill Fest will run for only one more week, until September 3, so hurry and book your tickets!
