A More Mature Barbie Forteza, Derrick Monasterio in “Almost a Love Story”

They were last seen together on the big screen in Yam Laranas’ The Road (2011), they’ve been paired in some television series in GMA Network like Luna Blanca, Anna Karenina and The Half Sisters and the upcoming Inday Will Always Love You. Years have passed and Barbie Forteza and Derrick Monasterio reunite in what the production calls the greatest love story ever told – “Almost a Love Story.”

The movie tackles the theme of “long distance relationship” between childhood friends Baneng and Luigi had. It was Baneng’s OFW mom (played by Lotlot de Leon who was taking care of the Luigi in Italy) who was instrumental in making love blossom between the two. In the story, both Baneng and Luigi have the inclination for the arts that also drew them together. Is there be a fairy tale ending to the kilig-filled romance of Baneng and Luigi?

But what does the DerBie love team offers in this film that is new? What can the people expect that’s different in Almost A Love Story that we haven’t seen from them yet? Barbie and Derek answers in the video below:

“Gusto kasi ni direk Louie (Ignacio), kung ano kami sa real life, ilabas namin sa movie and sa soaps namin before, meron kaming mga character pero dito sa movie, ‘yung character namin is ‘yung kami talaga,” Derrick answers.

“Nagpapakita na po ng abs si Derrick ngayon Barbie jokingly says. “Ngayon, this is a more mature DerBie in terms of acting, siyempre and ‘yung development naming dalawa ngayon as a love team. And ‘yung friendship namin, magre-reflect din talaga siya on cam,” she continues.
