Alden Richards, Bea Alonzo officially signed to star in ‘Pure Love’ film adaptation

We can probably call it a dream collaboration. Having Alden Richards and Bea Alonzo to star in a movie would be hard to believe if someone told me about this five years ago. But with what happened with Hello, Love, Goodbye, the possibility of big names from different, or we may call it rival networks became real. And here we are.

Today, March 2, 2021, Alden Richards and Bea Alonzo together with GMA Films, APT Entertainment and VIVA Films signed the deal: the two stars will be starring in the film adaptation of the Japanese TV series ‘Pure Soul.’

The film is going to be produced by VIVA Films, GMA Network and APT Entertainment under the direction of Nuel Naval (Miracle in Cell No. 7).

Pure Soul (Kimi ga Boku wo Wasuretemo) is a 2001 Japanese TV series which aired April 2001 to June 2001 on NTV Japan. It starred Hiromi Nagasaku as Kaoru Seta and Naoto Ogata as Kousuke Takahara.

It was also adapted to a film in Korea starring Jung Woo Sung and Son Ye Jin in 2004.

Below is the official synopsis:

Happily married to Koichi, 30-year-old Kaoru’s world is shaken when she is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease. Amidst this turmoil, they discover that Kaoru is pregnant. Deciding to keep the baby, they name their little girl Himawari. But Kaoru’s condition worsens, and she begins to wonder what is left that she can do…for her husband and her daughter. Before she is no longer able, she begins to write a long letter to her daughter. Her heartfelt letter forms the backbone and narration of this touching drama series.

Though the original was in 2001 and the Korean film adaptation in 2004, Bea says that the movie will have a modern look and a Filipino touch. Alden shared that the two agreed not to watch the original TV series and the Korean movie remake to have their own take of the roles.

Vic del Rosario of VIVA Films shares that Bea and Alden are perfect for the two lead characters, “Mahirap to imagine na not a combination of (Alden and Bea). I think sila ‘yung perfect for the two roles.”

No other details have been released. Filming will probably start soon for a possible release on the 3rd or 4th quarter this year.
