‘Family Matters’ cast overwhelmed by the warm reception of their trailer

Weeks after the release of their official trailer, the Metro Manila Film Festival 2022 entry Family Matters are gaining buzz in the internet which makes it one of the most talked-about and anticipated entry in the film festival this Christmas Day.

Those lines, “your phone will always be there. But I won’t be.” I mean, who won’t get affected by that, right???

Being a Filipino, family is a big part of our lives. Whether we like it or not, it’s that thing that will always connects us until we die. We may have our ups and downs, differences, and quarrels but as they say, blood is thicker than water.

Going back to the trailer, it has now earned more than 35 million views. If you go back to recent Filipino movies, family drama isn’t our most favorite genre or at least in the last five years. We always prefer either romantic comedies, slapstick comedies or horrors. That’s why it was kind of a surprise for the trailer to reach that high.

But more than the trailer views, how people reacted to it publicly and to the stars when they’re in public is also a testament that people are really touched by the trailer and is excited to watch the movie.

JC Santos: Actually, pinakanagulat kami kasi mas marami ‘yung lalaking naiyak. Kasi puro lalaki ‘yung nagme-message sa’kin. I think mas vocal ‘yung mga guys ngayon.

Noel Trinidad: We’ve been getting very good response to that trailer to the extent na my personal experience is people are approaching me to shake my hand, have pictures taken with me because of the trailer. Trailer pa lang. For example, merong lumapit sa’kin, big guy, maton, lumapit sa’kin, ‘ang ganda ho ng trailer ninyo. Naiyak ho ako.’ Mamang mama, ‘salamat naman, salamat naman’ kako.

Noel wants to thank the writer Mel Mendoza-del Rosario and director Nuel Crisostomo Naval for its beautiful story and the guidance doing the movie.

Family Matters stars Noel Trinidad, Liza Lorena, Nonie Buencamino, Agot Isidro, Mylene Dizon, Nikki Valdez, JC Santos, James Blanco and Ian Pangilinan. Directed by Nuel Crisostomo Naval.

Family Matters is an official entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival 2022. Opening in cinemas December 25, 2022 from CineKo Productions.
