Ali Forbes shares ‘WPS West Philippine Sea’ series advocates patriotism

“Sana panoorin na lang nila and then, i-judge nila. Itong WPS naman, gusto nating iparating dito is yung content of it – kung para saan ba ‘yung WPS.”

This is Ali Forbes answer to those criticizing their ongoing advocacy series WPS West Philippine Sea.

WPS: West Philippine Sea Defenders takes us in the near-future Philippines, when the covert agency Kagawaran ng Sandatahang Maharlikeno para sa Bagong Pilipinas na Inaasam (KSMBPI) defends the nation from the nuclear threat of the Kingdom of Manchuria. Amid escalating tensions, the agency’s agents must juggle dangerous missions with personal struggles, including forbidden love, arranged marriages, and conflicted loyalties.

As espionage and romance intertwine, these skilled operatives face both geopolitical threats and the complexities of their own hearts. Can love survive, and can the Philippines stand firm against a powerful enemy?

Ali on WPS critics and what the series advocates

‘Yung mga criticism sa WPS, we can look at it as creative criticism to improve our series more kasi Doc Mike Aragon, he’s looking forward na mag-push ang second season. So, sa mga critics ng WPS, thank you, baka it’s a way to improve ourselves. For now, what we want is, ‘yung message ng aming series na we should stand for West Philippine Sea kasi tayo ay mga Pilipino and our advocacy na ‘wag tayong magpapa-api ay makuha nila,” Ali shares.

The series stars AJ Raval, Aljur Abrenica, Ali Forbes, Ayanna Misola, Diana Menezes, Lance Raymundo, Massimo Scofield, Jeric Raval and Rannie Raymundo. Directed by Karlo Montero and produced by Dr. Michael Raymond Aragon.

Last November 3, 2024, WPS held a screening at Manila Hotel for its artists, staff and crew and some of the members of the Philippine Navy to watch the first and second episode of their advocacy series.
