The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) and the National Council for Children’s Television (NCCT) renewed their partnership on Wednesday, March 12, to promote responsible viewing and child-friendly television programming.
This partnership promotes cooperation and collaboration between NCCT and MTRCB for purposes of integrating MTRCB’s Responsableng Panonood (RP) Program and NCCT’s Media and Information Literacy Education services (MILES) in a joint activity that supports the common goals and objectives of both agencies.
MTRCB Chairperson and CEO Lala Sotto-Antonio expressed sincere thanks to the NCCT for its “unwavering support in promoting responsible viewing and child-friendly content in TV.”
“Our agencies have been collaborating for years with the common goal of protecting Filipino children against harmful television content,” said Sotto-Antonio. “This renewed agreement is a testament of our dedication and strong commitment to promoting safe media consumption and responsible viewing.”
NCCT Executive Director III Desideria Atienza said that the agreement is not merely a formality but a pledge to work together toward creating a safer and more beneficial media landscape for Filipino children.
“Together with MTRCB, we will work to raise the standards of children’s media, promote quality content, and ensure that what our children watch contributes to their holistic development,” said Atienza. “At NCCT, we firmly believe that through educational and age-appropriate content, we can shape young minds and instill values that will benefit not only the next generation but also the society as a whole.”
The collaboration between the MTRCB and NCCT is a testament of the government’s strong commitment and dedication to fostering safe media consumption and responsible viewing.
