ERASERHEADS: COMBO ON THE RUN (2025) Review
Directed by Diane Ventura
It’s undeniable how Eraserheads, as a band, changed the landscape of OPM when they debuted in 1989. It’s also undeniable how their music is still relevant and being listened to even by the youth today. ‘Eraserheads: Combo on the Run’ is an absorbing documentary that understands the existence and contribution of its subject, offering insightful anecdotes.
What’s also amusing in this documentary is the unfiltered discussion of how the band was like behind the limelight. How they flesh out the stories of each member will give the audience a deeper appreciation of their individualities and their relationship as a group.
While it’s a documentary, the structure of its storytelling feels like a narrative. Even if it only shows the highlights of their personal and professional lives, you see and feel the ups and downs, you sympathize with their misunderstandings and you realize the meaning behind their songs.
After the film, you’ll feel sad about their dispute, but at the same time, you’ll hope for more from the group. ‘Eraserheads: Combo on the Run’ is a perfect tribute to an original Pinoy music icon.
