The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) successfully rated and classified around 70,000 film, television, and publicity materials from January to March 2025.
This figure marks a significant increase compared to the 59,095 materials recorded during the same period last year.
Some 68,953 materials came from TV programs, plugs and trailers; 159 were local, independent and international films and 118 were movie trailers. The Board also classified 413 materials for publicity and optical media.
By upholding strict guidelines in its review procedures, the MTRCB, led by Chairperson and CEO Lala Sotto-Antonio, remains committed to promoting responsible viewing.
“This is part of the agency’s effort to ensure that films, television programs and publicity materials meet the age-appropriate rating and classification standards in a bid to protect audiences from content that may be offensive, especially to younger viewers,” said Sotto-Antonio.
Said Sotto-Antonio: “This accomplishment also demonstrates the unwavering dedication of our 31 Board Members who put in a lot of effort to make sure that all submitted materials are age-appropriate.”
As the media landscape continues to evolve, MTRCB also strengthens its campaign for “Responsableng Panonood” (Responsible Viewing) through industry consultations, campaigns, and other initiatives.
“Rest assured that the Board is dedicated to ensuring that every member of the Filipino family has a safe and comfortable viewing experience,” Sotto-Antonio added, stressing that the Agency’s top priority is still to protect Filipino children from exposure to any content that could be disturbing to their young minds.
