Fans have been waiting for eight years for the continuation of the story of Stella and Fidel in ’100 Tula Para Kay Stella.’ Now, Viva Films and Ninuno Media bring back the beloved characters to the big screen for the highly-anticipated sequel, ’100 Awit Para Kay Stella’ – out in cinemas on September 10, 2025.
It has been eight years since the release of ’100 Tula Para Kay Stella.’ How did Bela Padilla and JC Santos get back into their characters Stella and Fidel for ‘100 Awit Para Kay Stella’?
“Yes, eight years. Every time nakikita ako ng mga tao, si Bela ‘yung naiisip nila. ‘Uy, ‘yung partner ni Bela!’ Siyempre maaalala ‘yung title ng pelikula and I’m happy about it kasi naaalala nila ‘yung trabaho ko. Okay nang makalimutan nila ang pangalan ko, at least naaalala nila si Fidel. I’m happy about that. Fidel is such a fun character for me. Nung binalikan ko siya, emotionally, ang hirap balikan kasi marami akong points kay Fidel na attitude wise, hindi ako naga-agree as a person. Pero siyempre, I have to give sympathy to the character. Kailangan ko siyang bigyan ng hustisya, kailanga kong ipaintindi sa audience kung papaano siya as a person, para meron ding awareness ang audience na, ‘ah. This is him.’ And also, ‘yung kanyang defect, it was like riding a bike kasi si Fidel, he has a pattern, three words. Nagkaroon na kami ng mahabang mahabang usapan kung paano na siya ngayon bilang after a few years simula nung una. Ngayon, nag-mature na siya, nagbago ba? Kumusta na siya,” JC Santos on being Fidel again for ’100 Awit Para Kay Stella.’
“Ako, I think the beauty of this film is present time siya, present age din namin ni JC. I think it was easier for us to fall in the character this time kasi ‘yung dati, college students kami, nung ’100 Tula.’ Campus life, ang dami naming mga klase, ang daming nangyayari kahit sa personal lives namin. Alala ko nagte-teleserye kaming dalawa na hiwalay, so dumadating kami sa ‘Stella’ na pagod na pagod. Nag-usap kami bago mag-shoot nito, ‘napanood mo ba ‘yung 100 Tula Para Kay Stella’ recently? I re-watched it before we went to set para fresh lang si Stella sa utak ko para alam ko paano siya nagsasalita dati, paano siya naglalakad. And na-realize ko, I don’t remember filming half of 100 Tula kasi nga lagi kaming puyat pero ang sarap niyang panoorin. I think when they gave us 100 Awit Para Kay Stella, I was excited kasi kaya kong maging focused sa kanya. I make sure na dito lang ako nakatutok nung nagshu-shoot kami and it’s different now, wala kami sa campus setting, halos kaming tatlo lang lagi ang magkaka-eksena. I think we really got to play with our characters this time around tapos ang helpful na meron na kaming songs from the first movie, very nostalgic. Parang kapag tumutugtog ‘yung ‘Balisong,’ ‘yung ’241,’ pumapasok na agad ako kay Stella. Minsan kahit ‘yung mga eksena hindi nakakaiyak, naiiyak na ako dahil naririnig ko ‘yung song. Malaking factor nung nostalgia, I think for me at least, to get the character,” Bela Padilla on being Stella for ’100 Awit Para Kay Stella.’
