Comedy Queen Ai-Ai delas Alas was recently the star of a lighthearted prank during a private dinner with friends and colleagues.
The award-winning actress was dining with fellow stars Ara Mina, Anjo Yllana, and Ynez Veneracion, alongside Maddox Jewelry founder Charo Cordial, when a neighboring table’s real engagement sparked a mischievous idea.
The idea was sparked by a real marriage proposal taking place at a nearby table. Inspired by the romantic gesture, the group spontaneously coordinated with the restaurant’s head waiter to stage a surprise mock proposal for Ai-Ai. Shortly after, a gentleman approached her table, knelt, and unveiled a banner reading, “Will You Marry Me?” Instantly sending the group into laughter and cheers.
Adding to the authenticity of the playful act, a diamond ring from Maddox Jewelry, graciously provided by Ms. Cordial, was presented during the staged proposal.
Ai-Ai was visibly surprised and delighted, laughing throughout the entire moment as guests captured the scene on video. The lighthearted “fiancé” even sealed the performance with a quick kiss on the forehead.
Ms. Cordial gamely took part in the surprise, reflecting the warm and joyful spirit shared by the group that evening.
Although the proposal was purely for entertainment, the moment highlighted the strong bond and vibrant personalities in the group.
Of course, it was all just for fun and entertainment. But could it be that AiAi jokingly told Ms. Charo that there’s no taking back the Maddox diamond ring that was used?
