“Next week, maggo-global na kami!”
Johnny Manahan, or more popularly known in the entertainment industry as Mr. M, the star maker, confidently answers how ready Star Worx and its talents are to go global during its media launch:
“Ready na kami actually to go global. Pero ‘yung ganun klaseng paggo-global (pertaining to Korean content and artists going global), kailangan total ‘yan eh. Kami, ready na kami, mga artista, entertainment, pero ‘yung financial, ‘yung state ng gobyerno, marami ‘yan eh. Nagiging critical mass ‘yan, ‘yung pera, maganda ‘yung economy, maganda ‘yung business, so tulad ng sabi ni Mr. Vargas, the tide lifts all the boats. So, hinihintay namin ‘yun. Kami, ready kami. Tulad ng Korea, diba? That wouldn’t have happened, ‘yung K-Pop? Hindi mangyayari ‘yung kung ‘yung ekonomiya nila walang (suporta sa gobyerno). So ganun din nangyari with Japan before. Economy first and everything else after. Sabay-sabay ‘yan, ‘yung critical mass, soft power ng bansa, ‘yung mga pelikula, ‘yung mga katha. Pero ‘yun, critical mass tapos sasabog na lang ‘yun.”
Johnny Manahan – widely known as Mr. M – brings decades of legacy in discovering and developing some of the industry’s most celebrated stars. He is now joining forces with TV5 and Star Worx which marks a bold new chapter in shaping the next generation of artists and original content.
The first batch of artists, officially introduced as “Block 1”, featured fresh faces, new voices and future stars ready to redefine entertainment.
The male artists of Star Worx Block 1 are Adam Buck, Amo Wilding, Chan Martin, Nico Matugas, Patrick Ballesteros, Spencer Capistrano, and Wayne Leonard.
The female artists of Star Worx Block 1 are composed of Carmela Lorzano, Celyn David, Kaitlyn King, Keisha Serna, Marthena Jickain, Nathalie Apollo, Rahil Gatali, Selina Griffin, and Steph Razon.
