A Couture Comeback: Heart Evangelista Brings Filipina Pride to Paris After Health Wake-Up Call

After her abrupt health scare, Kapuso Global Fashion Icon Heart Evangelista is now in Europe for the Paris Fashion Week.

According to her doctor, Heart is runway-ready as the actress and TV host is all-set for all her responsibilities in France.

Yet, she remains utterly unstoppable, stepping back into the spotlight just in time for Paris Haute Couture Week Fall/Winter 2026-2027, running from Monday, July 6, to Thursday, July 9. The four-day spectacle will reportedly play host to 30 venerable fashion houses, including the highly anticipated unveiling of Matthieu Blazy’s second couture collection for Chanel.

Taking to social media, Heart offered a glimpse into her Chanel fitting, playfully captioning it: “YOLO (You Only Live Once).” She punctuated the sentiment with a telling trio of emojis: an orange for Vitamin C, a syringe, and clinking wine glasses—a nod to her recent health scare balanced with a toast to life.

Moving forward, Heart is adopting a more intentional approach to fashion week, gracing only the events that hold profound personal meaning for her.

Beyond her front-row appearances, she is also balancing her duties as the host of GMA-7’s The People Have Spoken, which airs every Saturday.

Prior to her arrival at Haute Couture Week, the Filipina global style icon was also invited to Paris Men’s Fashion Week, though she ultimately chose to skip the event.

While details surrounding her brief hospitalization remain scarce, Heart chose to share a poignant reflection with her followers:

“I don’t like romanticizing certain situations but it was one of my hardest wake-up calls. Health is wealth. Don’t work for the approval of others. Work for yourself. I am so done giving 200 percent just to please the ones who never liked you to begin with. I will work to make me happy and for my own personal purpose.”

Before this brief medical interlude, Heart graced the 75th anniversary celebration of Max Mara in Shanghai, China. Held at the Long Museum on June 16, the prestigious gala saw her mingling with fellow international luminaries like Katie Holmes and Michelle Yeoh.

For this Parisian sojourn, Heart brought along a collection of bespoke jewelry pieces she designed herself using an array of precious gemstones—creations that have swiftly become a fixation among global fashion influencers.

She was also seen in Paris fitting a gown by the illustrious Stéphane Rolland, a designer renowned for dressing the world’s most iconic women. An official Haute Couture member of the Fédération de la Haute Couture since 2007, the prominent French luxury house is celebrated for its deep, almost sacred reverence for the traditions of Parisian couture.

Year after year, Paris Fashion Week acts as a crucible for the global elite, drawing icons from every corner of the world. This season is no exception, boasting a star-studded tapestry that includes Zendaya, Blackpink’s Lisa, Dua Lipa, Rihanna, Kate Moss, Nicole Kidman, and Penélope Cruz, among others.

This year’s overarching fashion calendar encompasses Men’s Fall/Winter (2026-2027) from January 20-25; Haute Couture (Spring/Summer 2026) from January 26-29; Women’s Fall/Winter (2026-2027) from March 2-10; Men’s Spring/Summer 2027 from June 23-28; Haute Couture (Fall/Winter 2026-2027) from July 6-9; and Women’s Spring/Summer 2027 from September 28 to October 6.

To carve out a permanent place in the upper echelons of Paris Fashion Week is an ambitious dream, making Heart’s undeniable breakthrough all the more extraordinary. As she continues to command attention at the world’s most prestigious fashion and lifestyle events, she weaves a narrative of triumph that brings immense pride to the Philippines.
