An Kubo sa Kawayanan (2015)
Alvin Yapan
5/5
With director Alvin Yapan’s filmography, you know you’re in for something bizarre and An Kubo Sa Kawayanan is definitely a Yapan film. A daring piece of art that pushes the audience’s thoughts to think big in small things. The intricacy of the story, the characters and the shots were beautiful in every way, not going big to leave the little details behind. The film takes you to an oddly intimate journey of a woman portrayed by the daring Mercedes Cabral and her love for her home which is a kubo (hut). It might make you think less of it but how Yapan construct the whole film is sort of magical; a boundless imagery of passion and art. An experience worth your time and money.
