WE ARE YOUR FRIENDS (2015) Review

Zac Efron continues to find mature pieces to prove his talent in acting. We Are Your Friends is one of those that actually works for him. The film is like a guide to DJ-ing, but its a rather safe tale of a person surrounded by temptations and danger. It’s not as deep or as wild as it should be, exploring drugs and girls and parties. Building a different story for a different ending makes it hard to have a satisfying conclusion, one hint doesn’t make it a road for the protagonist to really pursue it. Distractions are welcomed but it shouldn’t be the actual story.

We could see it as a film about dreams and ambition but it still lacks a firm characteristic in portraying a profession that is likely to create a bad name for himself before getting big. Its redeeming factor is its cast. Zac Efron, Wes Bentley and Emily Ratajkowski are great in the film. Seeing these artists as their characters is more than watchable.
