A gay thief and his young protege. This is a story about two small-time felons (Bhoy Intsik and Marlon) who crosses paths and start a petty mutual disdain for a competitor in their illegal business.
From director Joel Lamangan (Hustisya, Felix Manalo) comes a film that is close to the director, as he shoots the whole movie in Cavite where he lives.
The film is among the five finalists of the Sinag Maynila Film Festival 2017 and stars Raymond Francisco as Bhoy Intsik and Ronwaldo Martin as Marlon.
“Being both the lead actor and producer of this film is definitely a big challenge for me. I had to seperate my role as a producer and as an actor,” says Francisco.
But how did he got the role? Director Joel Lamangan told him that they’re going to work on Bhoy Intsik and asked if who will play the titular role, Lamangan then says, “you.”
Watch how he told the story in this video from the press conference:
After watching the award-winning Cinemalaya 2016 entry Pamilya Ordinaryo, Francisco and Lamangan said that they agreed that Ronwaldo Martin should play the role of Marlon.
The film also stars Jeric Raval, Mon Confiado, Elora Espano, Jim Pebanco, Tony Mabesa, Shyr Valdes, Mike Lloren and Liz Alindogan.
“Bhoy Intsik” is slated to be shown from March 9 to 14 in SM Megamall, SM North EDSA, Gateway and Glorietta 4 Cinemas.
