“Mamma Mia, here they go again!” Universal Pictures sets a July 2018 release date for the Mamma Mia sequel, “Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again!” to be directed by The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel writer and director Ol Parker.
The original lead stars Meryl Streep and Amanda Seyfried are most likely to return to reprise their roles as the mother and daughter Donna and Sophie. Donna’s friends Rosie (Julie Walters) and Tanya (Christine Baranski) would also be great to see return, and as Donna and Sam (Pierce Brosnan) married at the end of the original, Brosnan will also presumably be back. The other two potential fathers, Harry (Colin Firth) and Bill (Stellan Skarsgård) round out the key players in the original film.
No plot details have been revealed but by the numerous songs of ABBA which the musical and film was inspired, there are more than enough to go with.
