RESET (2017) Review
Directed by Chang
From producer Jackie Chan, the Chinese sci-f action thriller Reset will no doubt please the fans of Hollywood blockbusters for its action-packed sequences and endless twists and turns. But is that enough to actually experience the film in the cinema?
Reset is a futuristic family action drama about a scientist named Xia Tian (Yang Mi) who is working on a time-travelling technology. But an incident involving her son will make her use that technology even if she knows the dangers it might cause her.
Chinese actress Yang Mi will definitely catch your attention playing Xia Tian. Her acting skills not just in the dramatic scenes but also in the action scenes, which are Hollywood quality are pretty effective. But having a time-traveling element in the film, some of the sequences are predictable. We tend to react like we’ve seen it somewhere before and that lessens the suspense in the film.
But this is definitely an entertaining ride from start to finish, not only it tackles about time-travelling with top-notch action sequences, it also has a heart which is the bond between the mother and her son. Some of the CGI may need more upgrades but overall, it was a thrilling experience.
