STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI (2017) Review
Directed by Rian Johnson
Our theaters are plagued by big blockbuster franchises. Some works, some doesn’t. Star Wars: The Last Jedi worked pretty well because of its story. If offered something new to the audience, fan or not.
I’ve been excited what Rian Johnson would add to the world of Star Wars because of his Looper. There is something organic in his work and while Star Wars has this unexplainable “force,” Johnson made everything grounded.
The film is long and a bit slow, yes. But this is where it builds something new to the Star Wars universe, unlike recreating everything in The Force Awakens. The story is rich, the characters are well-developed and the fight scenes are engaging.
You get to know more about Rey, Finn, Kylo Ren, Poe, even Lea and Luke here. You get to really feel like there is more to tell in this franchise, that it should continue, that this should be told. Star Wars: The Last Jedi is not just a visual treat, but also emotionally satisfying. Delivering one of the best and jaw-dropping movie experiences ever.
