SKYSCRAPER (2018) Review
Directed by Rawson Marshall Thunder
Dwayne Johnson has been in more action movies than we can remember. He’s actually called the movie booster for making films become franchises but in his latest film Skyscraper, we see him a bit incomplete physically but nothing can stop his character Will Ford in saving his family. Not even a building more than 200 floors on fire.
Characters that have flaws are the most interesting to watch and while Johnson’s Will Ford obviously has that, the story that revolves around his character is somewhat predictable. But did not stop the film for being effectively intense. It’s an edge-of-your-seat action thriller that works because of its stars and how the film presents its tricks in executing suspenseful scenes.
It’s intense enough to be entertaining that you get what you paid for. The thrills, seeing Dwayne Johnson jump and fight on a towering inferno. Skyscraper doesn’t offer something new, but it’s decent enough to be satisfied with what you paid for.
3.5 OUT OF 5 STARS
“Skyscraper” is now showing in cinemas nationwide from United International Pictures Philippines, also in 4D and IMAX 3D. Rated PG by the MTRCB.
