It’s been one of the talk of the town since its teaser trailer was released. I mean, Tikbalang in a movie starring Nadine Lustre? The people behind this film must be out of their minds. In a good way though because ever since that teaser trailer was released, most netizens are eager to see more.
That and more reasons why Irene Villamor’s Ulan is one of 2019’s movie event:
- This is Irene Villamor’s Follow-up to 2018’s hit Sid & Aya:
One of the best romance movies of 2018, Sid & Aya: Not a Love Story is Irene Villamor’s most flawless film yet and it’s one of my favorites from last year. Because the themes are matured and the treatment of the film is unpretentious. You go with the story as smooth as silk and absorb it effortlessly.
2. This is Nadine Lustre’s First Lead Solo and Follow-up to Never Not Love You
Of course we know the Nadine Lustre is half of Pinoy love team JaDine and they’ve been doing movies and series for years now we can’t remember if they did work without each other. This film marks another milestone to Nadine’s career. Even though she’s not working with her beau, and Ulan tackles romance, there’s something mysterious in this project that make it very special. Yes, Never Not Love You was a massive hit but the two can also produce good movies outside their love team, right?
- Magic Realism from a major film production
Magical realism, or magic realism, is an approach to literature that weaves fantasy and myth into everyday life.
Though this may not be the first time magic realism is done in Philippine cinema, it’s rarely done in mainstream Philippine cinema. And to have major stars in it. It’s great that we’re getting more genres in Philippine mainstream cinema. We’re not just offering romance, slapstick comedies and family drama movies. Because we deserve new contents, fresh stories and top-notch production films.
- Carlo Aquino’s Follow-up to ‘Exes Baggage’
Our forever crush, Carlo Aquino is back again on the big screen. This may not be with our favourite Angelica Panganiban but hey, it’s with Nadine Lustre! That’s new. And while many people may not accept their pairing, we should look into the story more. And besides, it’s just a movie.
But yes, Carlo Aquino will always be on our radar. Everything he’s in turns gold.
Tikbalang in a mainstream romance movie. Need I say more?
