Directed by Guy Ritchie
Disney has been remaking their classic animated films for the new generation to see. While it does bring nostalgia to the ones who have experienced the original, it also feel unnecessary at times. But with the case of Aladdin, director Guy Ritchie and his team made sure that they”re going to make this live-action feature go with a bang.
I can show you the wold. Shining, shimmering, splendid. Even teenagers today know this song. A classic that will for live longer than our grandchildren. A Whole New World is Aladdin and Aladdin is A Whole New World. So, when the story broke that Aladdin will have its live-action adaptation, they should not ruin THE song. And thankfully, they stick with the original. Mena Massoud and Naomi Scott captured the soul of the song and the visuals will take you on a fairly magical ride.
Aladdin may not bring something new to the table but its extravagant musical numbers and visuals are more than enough to be amazed by this live-action adaptation. We may have doubts on Will Smith being blue and all but he definitely pulled it off. He and Naomi Scott were the highlights of the film.
Jafar, he could have been scarier and maybe his character could have given more depth. I know it’s a family movie, but given the character’s drive to be powerful, he could use more evilness.
