We’re months away from this year’s Cinema One Originals Film Festival and we just got the official synopsis and a teaser of one of its entries: ‘Utopia’ by Dustin Celestino and Dustin Uy.

Check out the official synopsis of ‘Utopia’ below:

UTOPIA by Dustin & Dustin

In Competition, Cinema One Originals Film Festival 2019

“Utopia” is a Filipino crime comedy film, in the style of Quintin Tarantino’s “Pulp Fiction,” and Guy Ritchie’s “Snatch.”

It tells several crime stories happening in Manila at the same time.

Abusive policemen torture a minor suspected of theft.

An opportunistic pickup artist with a YouTube show baits a psychotic drug mule into an act of violence.

Two freelance hit men track down a dangerous target, to murder him.

Three small-time criminals steal a car to use it for a heist.

An undercover police officer is trapped in a warehouse where a drug deal between two syndicates goes awry.

On any other day, bad men could have gotten away with their crimes, and the innocent could have been harmed.

But on this day, a comet flies over Manila, causing cosmic disturbances that make everything right for one night.

The film is directed by Dustin Celestino and Dustin Uy, written by Dustin Celestino with creative consultant Moira Lang. Produced by Shandii Bacolod and her Team MSB.

‘Utopia’ arrives in select cinemas this September as part of the Cinema One Originals 2019 Film Festival.
