‘Toy Story 4’ Review: A Little Big Adventure

TOY STORY 4 (2019) Review
Directed by Josh Cooley

We almost thought they’re already done with the franchise and releasing another movie is a gamble, as it would taint the great reputation of the ‘Toy Story’ series as one of the best Trilogies ever. But as it turns out, Pixar still has some tricks up their sleeves as ‘Toy Story 4’ is a little big adventure that’s emotional and fun.

Toy Story 4 isn’t as big as its predecessor. Think of it as a personal favor of a friend that’s dear to you and you want to help him/her because you understand that it’s a big deal for him/her.

But the thing is, the adventure is still fun and this might even be the funniest installment in the franchise. New and returning characters are well-written enough to matter, while the old gang is in some sort of a break. We’re not seeing a Woody and Buzz Lightyear adventure this time. Woody gets to have the bigger adventure, he gets to have a more mature choices, for everyone and for himself.

Maybe Toy Story 4 is unnecessary, maybe it’s not. But watching it on the big screen is as satisfying as watching a good sequel of your favorite movie. You get the feels, you get to embrace their weirdness, their characters one more time and it’s a warm feeling.

It may not be my favorite Toy Story movie but I had a lot of fun watching Toy Story 4 and there are moments that made me cry for realizing how real these characters are. That they’re not just toys, they’re friends.
