‘Portrait of a Lady on Fire’ to have PH online premiere via FDCP Channel

2019 multi-awarded French historical drama movie ‘Portrait of a Lady on Fire’ is finally getting a Philippine release online via FDCP’s online platform fdcpchannel.ph starting June 4.

In 18th century France a young painter, Marianne, is commissioned to do the wedding portrait of Héloïse without her knowing. Therefore, Marianne must observe her model by day to paint her portrait at night. Day by day, the two women become closer as they share Héloïse’s last moments of freedom before the impending wedding.

Portrait de la jeune fille en feu or Portrait of a Lady on Fire was selected to compete at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival for the Palme d’Or category. It was the first film directed by a woman to win Queer Palm at Cannes. Director Céline Sciamma also won the award for Best Screenplay.

The film was nominated for Independent Spirit Awards, Critics’ Choice Awards and Golden Globe Awards for Best Foreign Film and was one of the top five foreign language films of 2019 by the National Board of Review.

It gained 152 nominations and won 57 awards from different award giving bodies worldwide

The film will be available via rental, for P220 for 7 day access and will expire 48 hours after first play.

Portrait of a Lady on Fire is part of Film Development Council of the Philippines’ Pelikulaya: LGBTQIA+ Film Festival from June 4 – 30, 2021, in celebration of Pride Month this June.
