New to the industry, PBB Connect’s Andi Abaya and First Yaya’s Joaquin Domagoso will lead the cast of Perry Escano’s upcoming comedy crime thriller Caught in the Act.
A bold move to shoot a movie during the pandemic, but even bolder to cast newbies as its lead stars. But how did Andi and Joaquin got the lead roles?
Writer and director Perry Escano shares, “Nung sinusulat ko pa lang kasi ‘yung script na ‘yan, gusto ko ‘yung mga gaganap dun is opposite sa totoong buhay nila. Like kay Andi and kay Joaquin, in real life, makikita mo na conyo sila, mga class A pero sa film makikita mo parang class C sila or class D. Ganu’n ‘yung paggawa ko sa mga characters nila.“
“Nag-virtual audition sila sa akin, and nakikita ko din kasi mga acting nila like si Andi nakita ko sa PBB, si Joaquin nasusubaybayan ko siya sa First Yaya. Then, ‘yung ibang cast napapanood ko sa ibang shows. So ‘pag may naiisip akong ibang character iniisip ko na ‘ah eto, bagay siya dito.’ Kasi swak siya sa character na nasulat ko.”
