Gab Pangilinan-Salomon, to star in an upcoming musical fantasy flick ‘Aster’

Filipino stage actress Gab Pangilinan-Salomon, who broke into the mainstream scene in between doing theater productions and TV series as well as films, will soon star in a musical fantasy film, ASTER. After two successful stage productions–Ang Huling El Bimbo and Mula sa Buwan she will headline as a 25-year-old provincial lass who returns home with lackluster accomplishments despite having left as an academic scholar.

As Aster, she struggles to meet the expectations of her family and community while pursuing her passion for writing and getting entangled in the artistic, musical neighboring town’s secret legend. Pangilinan will star along with Mike Shimamoto, Floyd Tena, Marisa Del Prado, and the special participation of a musical iconic legend Ms. Celeste Legaspi.

Apart from the film, Pangilinan-Salomon, is also set to reunite with her husband, a co-theater artist, Myke to star in the Barefoot Theatre Collaborative‘s (BTC) first international award-winning Off-Broadway production, The Last Five Years in September. Gab and Myke will take on the characters of an aspiring actress Cathy and a writer named Jamie.

Aster was to compete in the Metro Manila Film Festival until the producers from MAN-G Production opted to forego the idea and opted to delay it for its post-production and give the film a much longer touches to deliver a top-notch piece for the audience, Since the film is a musical fantasy, it requires a tedious process of putting together its SFX. One of its producers is committed to releasing the film not on a theatrical exhibition but on VOD like Netflix. The producers are looking for a 2024 release.
