‘Unspoken Letters’ tackle misunderstandings within families, embracing uniqueness

Stories about families are a staple in Philippine movies. And we understand that, we’re always soft for family issues because we understand them, we relate to them, their characters, their stories, their journey.

And that’s the main issue in the movie ‘Unspoken Letters’ – family.

The lead character is a seventeen year old girl Felipa (Busran) who functions at the level of a seven year old child. Felipa looks up to her siblings and dreams of following their footsteps. The supporting characters, her family members has their own issues. Issues with each others and issues of their own.

What’s best about the film is their performances. Seeing Gladys Reyes, Tonton Gutierrez, Simon Ibarra, Matet de Leon do dramatic scenes give the audiences what they want and maybe even more.

Its lead actress Jhassy Busran showed promise in her most challenging role yet. You can see consistency in her acting from start to finish.

Overall, my take away from the film is that you are not alone in keeping secrets or unspoken things from your family or friends. That it may be better to talk about your feelings with someone and don’t let those feelings left unsaid. And also embrace being unique, because our differences make us who we are. Whether people like it or not.
