THE BEEKEEPER (2024) Review
Directed by David Ayer
Imagine if Jason Statham, with all his macho charm action, were to play John Wick? The Beekeeper is an entertaining revenge action thriller that packs some surprising twists and knows the audience of the genre and its lead star.
Entering the cinema with no expectations, I can honestly say that I enjoyed The Beekeeper. You can say that some of Statham’s films feels the same and he looks and acts the same, but if that feel or look or acting is with the right material, you’ll end up enjoying Statham kicking butts and shooting guns left and right. And that’s what I felt after watching his latest film.
Fans of the action genre will also not be disappointed in the film. Statham has a lot of action movies under his name but the action scenes in The Beekeeper doesn’t feel recycled, and they were executed really well. You still get tense most part of it and at times, the character feels like they were over-the-top but in a good way. Like they add fun and spice to the story as it progresses and widens.
I wouldn’t mind if The Beekeeper becomes a franchise like John Wick. I mean, who wouldn’t like to see Jason Statham doing what he does best?
