He’s no stranger in the action genre. From playing Harvey Dent in Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Dark Knight’ to the President in Antoine Fuqua’s ‘Olympus Has Fallen,’ Aaron Eckhart, a reliable actor and at the top of his career, is starring in the action-packed movie ‘The Bricklayer.’
Eckhart plays Steve Vail, a seasoned ex-CIA operative who is drawn back into the shadows to confront a formidable extortionist threatening the agency’s very existence. Vail’s expertise and cunning are put to the test as he unravels a complex web of intrigue, navigating through hidden agendas and treacherous alliances. As the stakes escalate, Vail must rely on his instincts and training to outwit his adversaries, uncover their true motives, and protect the secrets that could compromise national security. With time running out and the fate of the agency hanging in the balance, Vail embarks on a perilous mission to neutralize the extortionist and restore order.
The film delivers what action fans wants. The thrills, the tension, the mano-a-mano fighting, gun shooting, car chases and of course, explosions.
It’s kind of scary to piss off someone like his character Steve Vail. For someone who is expert is fighting and is also a strategist, you might want to be a hundred steps ahead if you’re going to go against him.
But there’s also an emotional side to the story. Having his friends and former colleagues be part of the chaos he’s been entangled to, and a new partner, played by Nina Dobrev, is growing on him, the stakes are getting higher and higher.
‘The Bricklayer’ is now showing in Philippine cinemas, distributed by VIVA International Pictures. Rated R-13 by the MTRCB.
