Some people say the best way to educate people is through entertainment.
Kapitana Entertainment Media, led by Ms. Rossana Hwang, offers the perfect mix of entertainment and education with ‘Isang Komedya sa Langit’ – a film that tells the story of three priests from the 1800s who are transported to the present world, carrying with them courage, faith, and the will to fight for the truth.
The film stars Mr. Jaime Fabregas, Gene Padilla and EA Guzman with Carmi Martin, John Medina and Aki Blanco. Written by Rossana Hwang and directed by Roi Paolo Calilong.
For someone who’s already a veteran in the industry, is there pressure for sir Jaime Fabregas on the box-office results of their film?
“Looking forward to it, na makita ng audience pero wala naman akong expectations. All I know is it’s good entertainment, I think it will be received well,” Jaime answers.
When asked about the most challenging part in the film, Aki Blanco was cautious about not spoiling but shares, “lahat po nandito. Halo-halo siya, may comedy, may drama and ang gagaling nila (co-actors). Nadadala ako sa mga eksena.”
How does Aki feel about being a support to veteran actors?
“For me sobrang go lang po kasama ko sina tito Jaime, si Ms. Carmi. Ang dami kong matututunan sa kanila dito and para sa akin, tulad ng sabi ni tito Jaime, pantay-pantay lahat ng characters namin dito kapag napanood ninyo ‘yung movie.”
Writer and producer Rossana Hwang is very hands-on on the set of her book-to-film project ‘Isang Komedya sa Langit.’
During the pocket media conference, it’s refreshing to see and hear the producer, who is also the writer, talking as a talent coordinator, location manager and other positions in a film production. A very hands-on producer indeed. But how do her stars feel about her proactiveness in the shoot?

“I find it quite a challenge. Pero ang maganda kasi bago ang lahat, nagchika chika muna kami, parang binigyan niya na ako ng background kung paano tatakbo ang shooting. Pero sobra siyang hands on. So ang ginawa ko, nagpabakuna ako. Kasi meron akong movie at soap nun (while shooting), nagka-shingles ako. Kasi nga alam ko minsan kapag sobrang puyat ka from one project to another (kaya ako nagpabakuna). So, nagka-shingles ako and at the same time, I really studied and researched about it. Natuwa nga sila kasi ang daming sulat nung script ko kasi naga-acting workshop ako, so nagno-note ako. It’s a different role, lola ako. Nag-prepare ako aside from memorizing my lines because ayaw kong maging pabigat sa shoot,” Carmi Martin shares.
“Ini-spoil niya kaming lahat. As much as possible she made us comfortable as we could be on the set. So, this is appreciated kasi minsan nakakaligtaan ‘yun (pag-alala sa tao). Anyway, ang sabi ko nga hands on. Lahat ata ng location namin, sila may-ari. Technically, it was a fun shoot and very supportive,” Jaime Fabregas agrees.
“Nakakatuwa kay Ma’am Rossana, gusto ko siya kapag nase-stress siya, eh. Kapag nase-stress siya ang cute niyang tignan. Si Ma’am Rossana as a producer, hindi siya ‘yung parang tulad ng iba na hindi mo nakakausap, si Ma’am Rossana para siyang kaibigan na din sa amin. Hands on siya, anjan siya palagi. Nakakatuwa kasi nagtutulungan kami sa set,” Akihiro Blanco answers.
What will be the takeaway of the audience from ‘Isang Komedya sa Langit’?
“Sana they will learn to love the country.”
